80% of flea problems in Europe can be attributed to the cat flea (Ctenocephalides felis). The cat and dog flea (Ctenocephalides canis) are among the most common flea species in the world. In principal, they cause the same problems.
Fleas grow to a maximum of 4 mm, are coloured either dark or red-brown, and have strong legs for jumping. They can lay up to 400 eggs on the hosts. The breeding places are mostly dusty and dirty corners and crevices.
